WATERCOLOR

I am working up my nerve to give watercolor another try. Very few of my attempts have been rewarding in any manner, but a number of my favorite artists keep pulling me back. Anne Karp, my friend from the Pacific Northwest is always a source of inspiration and Lian Quan Zhen's makes the medium look so easy. He has a number of demonstrations on Youtube that make me want to rush down to my studio and start throwing paint everywhere!

GREAT LOOSE WATERCOLORS

I have mentioned in a few earlier posts how much I love and enjoy artists who paint with watercolors in a very loose and non-constricted style. Herry Aifin has a wonderful website that shows this type of style at its' best. On the site he explains why he paints and shows a few demos of his painting technique. Great use of color and values.

MIKE AND LIAM REVISITED

More paint splashed on my watercolor attempt. Not even close to what I had in mind, but I don't hate it yet. I had planned on doing a very loose technique, but I always seem to tighten up and restrict the flow!
