LINO COMPLETE

I did my last cut on my 'Stormy Meadow' linocut last night. Really didn't turn out as I hoped, but more lessons learned!

SECOND BLOCK

Last night I printed the second block of my new linocut. I'll do some reduction cuts on this one (as well as the third block) and print it again in darker reds.

LINOCUTS

I did this linocut print when my grandson Liam was born. It is the largest I have ever done and I did it in an edition of five. The second print is one I did from a photograph I saw on the internet. Both are reduction cuts.

REDUCTION WOODBLOCK

Back to basics...though the technique requires a bit of planning, reductions woodblock prints are really rewarding. The fact that they also are a little less expensive (one block vs multiple blocks) is a bonus.

It has become easy for me to remember that whatever I cut away from the block will show as the last color that was printed on the paper. This print I named 'Devil Music' (best viewed from a distance).
