SOLARPLATE

I have been working on a Solarplate etching the last few days. Solarplates are so much easier and safer than traditional acid etching. For this printing I drew on a clear plastic sheet. The copper plate is first exposed to the sun using an aquatint screen, then exposed again using the drawing. The plate is rinsed with water and then ready to be printed.

PASTEL START AND TWO OLDER PRINTS

Started the base coat on my new pastel painting. Using water-soluble pastel sticks which are new to me. Also, posted a couple of older prints that I had forgot about. 'Devil Music' is a reduction woodblock print and 'The Farm' is a solarplate print.

OLDER THINGS

Sorting and cleaning my studio area yesterday and found two prints that I had done last year. The tree stand is a reduction linocut print that didn't work out very well but gave me some good lessons and experience for future attempts. The other print is one of my first solarplate etchings. I hand colored one of the prints from the edition, but I think I like this better. Has an old feeling to it.

OLD BLUES

So many ways to put an image on paper. Each one unique and an adventure. 'Old Blues' is pulled from a solarplate etching and then hand colored.
