MULTITASK
I am still working on the drawing for the etching I want to do. It has turned into quite a project! To give myself a break, I have also started another watercolor. Still working on negative painting techniques. This is another small painting. Probably time to go a bit bigger!

Practice, practice, practice!! This painting is done on a larger piece of Arches 300 pound watercolor paper and took about three hours.

POSITIVELY NEGATIVE
I'm really trying to give watercolors another chance. I love the medium but find almost every attempt to be a battle. I started a small painting in my travel journal using Linda Kemp's negative painting technique. Not only did I have fun doing it, but actually liked the results.

WATERCOLOR POUR
I have been working on a practice watercolor starting with watercolor that is poured onto the paper to start and moved around with my fingers (Lian Quan Zhen). I am now adding detail with positive and negative brush work.

NEGATIVE PAINTING
I happened across a clip on Youtube showing a negative painting technique that I really enjoyed. The demonstration featured Linda Kemp, a full time artist from Ontario Canada. She has a book and video out called 'Watercolor Painting Outside the Lines'. If you are interested in painting with a different twist, search her out on Youtube, or visit her website.http://www.lindakemp.com
