RICE PAPER

One of the blogs that I visit often belongs to Krista Hasson, who is a Canadian artist. Recently she has been working with rice paper which she crinkles and paints with watercolors. They are really quite unique and beautiful. I made a small attempt at one, thinking that I struggle so much with watercolors this might be different. It wasn't, but it was a lot of fun!

TIME FOR THE GRANDKIDS

Still working on the jazz pastel but took a little time for a trip to the beach with Liam and Levi. It was Levi's first time experiencing all the many sights and textures the ocean provides. He loved it!!

JAZZY

New Orleans, Jazz and art...these are a few of my favorite things. Moving along on the new pastel from one of the Bresciani photographs. I'm enjoying it so much that the time flies by down in my studio.

PROGRESS

Almost finished with the barn pastel. I want to do more detail in the foreground, but not quite sure what to add. I also did a value scale of a great photograph of New Orleans by Alfonso Brescani.

SMALL WORLD

My friend from Lopez Island sent me a scan of the latest watercolor she is working on. Subject is strikingly similar to the pastel I am working on right now. Must be telepathy, or the fact that I enjoy her paintings a lot.

MORE FINDS

Still sorting through old stuff. Now a hand colored lino of my wife and a pastel of my grandson. I seem to have too much time on my hands!

SPRING CLEANING

Spent a bit of time sorting through older paintings and prints and trying to put them into some kind of order. Found a few that I had forgotten all about. Two watercolor paintings that actually turned out the way I had planned them. Also the first monoprint I ever tried.
