Going through piles of things in my studio as kind of a fall cleaning and found a few older pieces that I had forgotten about. A koi monoprint and a reduction woodblock print of my wife Teri.
I have been in New England the last seven days enjoying the really super fall colors this year. We have gone a number of times but this year seemed really spectacular. Should have enough painting subjects to last me a while.
A friend told me about an artist named Nicholas Simmons who does fantastic water medium paintings. He is called "The Bad Boy of Watercolor" and when you see his unconventional and innovative art you can understand why.
Quite a while ago I had done a linocut of my wife Teri. It was not a great success. She, along with anyone who looked at it didn't see a resemblance. This last week I did a mixed media (Acrylic, pastels and acrylic inks) of her with better results. SHE LIKES IT!
A friend sent me a link (below) to a Youtube video that I really enjoyed. Kathy Arbour creates a mixed media painting that had me thinking "not very good" when she starts, then had me saying "wow" at the finish.
One of my favorite artist, Chris Forsey, has some new art on his blog site. His paintings are so loose and flowing. The way I wish I could paint! https://www.facebook.com/ChrisForseyRiSgfa
As I was cleaning up my studio and sorting through my apple crate of old art, I found some of the scratch board things I have done through the years. Forgot how much fun this technique is.
I studied art many, many years ago, then drifted away from it pursuing a living. Ten years ago, through a love for photography, I revisited my art and creative side.
In this new adventure, I discovered printmaking. Linocuts and woodblock work hold so many surprises for me.
