"I feel the only thing you can do about life is preserve it, by art if you're and artist, by children if you're not."
~Philip Larkin~ 'Letters to Monica'
Working in watercolors has always been an adventure for me. It's definitely not my best medium. I have started pulling out old paintings that I was unhappy with, and reworking them with acrylics (thank you Chris Forsey). Below is one that I worked on the last few nights. I'm not sure it's any better but certainly a lot more colorful!
For 25 years I have coached baseball at Big Bear's high school. This time of the year is always a bit emotional as our seniors leave us to move on to their new lives. I thought this speech (small segment) from Jim Carey was pretty spectacular! http://sftimes.co/?id=955
"One of the most valuable things that one of my art teachers said to me was, 'Don't get upset by criticism. Value the fact that at least someone noticed what you did."
~Chris Moss~
Spent a few days at Disneyland with my grand kids. Remember reading that the reason grandchildren have so much energy is because they suck it out of the grandparents. So true. I'm exhausted!!
I studied art many, many years ago, then drifted away from it pursuing a living. Ten years ago, through a love for photography, I revisited my art and creative side.
In this new adventure, I discovered printmaking. Linocuts and woodblock work hold so many surprises for me.
