ART VS THE REAL ME

Art is the human activity which consists in one human consciously conveying to others, by certain external signs, the feelings he has experienced, and in others being affected by those feelings and also experiencing them. ~Leo Tolstoy~

Art is a selective re-creation of realty according to an artist's metaphysical value-judgments. An artist recreates those aspects of reality which represent his fundamental view of man's nature ~Marcel Proust~

The above definitions of art are both profound and insightful, but...somehow I find it difficult to relate them to the picture of me, sitting in my sweat pants, splashing paint here and there.

I like these quotes~ I had just come across the Proust quote the other day. I find it interesting that you pursued art, then left it to make a living, and now have returned. I was out making a living, then discovered that I really just wanted to create art! It's like a spark in the soul that will not go out! I've enjoyed looking around your blog!
