NOTE TO SELF...LOOSEN UP

My new watercolor is still not quite finished, and not quite what I had hoped for, but I'm enjoying putting down paint without trying to be precise. When I paint with acrylics, I try too hard for photographic results. Much more fun without those expectations. Thinking I might actually get better at this!!

I've been doing that too--moving away from the more rigid disciplines to the freer, more elastic processes. That's a really nice composition in the new wc, and the colors and textures are coming along nicely. I'm also liking the juxtaposing of the realism vs. the really cool semi-abstract background in the apple piece. One element defines the other in an interesting way. Paint on.
